How To Share Screen In Teams?
Try it! – In Microsoft Teams, you can show your desktop, a specific app, a whiteboard, or a presentation in a meeting.
- Select Share content and choose if you want to share your computer audio.
- Select what you want to share:
- Screen lets you show everything on your screen.
- PowerPoint Live lets you share a PowerPoint presentation.
- Microsoft Whiteboard and Freehand by Invision lets you share a whiteboard where participants can sketch together.
- Window lets you share an open window like a specific app you have open.
- After you select what you want to show, a red border surrounds what you’re sharing. Meeting participants won’t see any notifications that might come in.
- Select Stop sharing to stop showing your screen.
Note: Linux users won’t see the red border surrounding what they are sharing. Also, window sharing isn’t available for Linux users.

Microsoft Teams’ screen sharing feature allows you to share your device’s screen with your meeting participants. If you have trouble presenting your screen or see a black screen in the meeting while trying to present, your device or app may have an issue.
Let’s get sharing – Once you’ve joined the Microsoft Teams meeting, you are able to “push” your screen to everyone else using the Share button in the meeting bar. Share your screen using this button. To be able to share your screen to the meeting, you must have the of organizer or presenter, Attendees of the meeting cannot share their screens. Now Teams will give you a — somewhat overwhelming — list of things you can share. You have a ton of options for what you can share
To share your screen in a meeting, select Share content in your meeting controls. Then, choose to present your entire screen, a window, a PowerPoint file, or a whiteboard. Notes:
- If you’re using Teams on the web, you’ll be able to share your screen only if you’re using Google Chrome or the latest version of Microsoft Edge.
- In Teams on the web, you’ll see the following when you select Share content :
- Window sharing isn’t available for Linux users.

When you’re done sharing, go to your meeting controls and select Stop sharing,
Where do I turn on screen sharing?
Android | iOS Tap the screen to display the meeting controls. Tap More. Tap Security. Toggle the Share Screen on to enable screen sharing for participants.
When you’re chatting with one or more people in Teams, you can instantly share your screen, Go to the chat controls in the upper-right corner and select Share, Choose a window to share that specific program and its content, or select Desktop to share everything on your screen. The other participants in the chat will receive a notification asking them to accept your screen share. Once they do, they’ll be able to see your screen and continue the chat.
Trouble with Teams sharing your camera, microphone or screen? – Occasionally, neither Microsoft Teams nor macOS prompts to share your camera, microphone and screen. That means Teams cannot access the camera and microphone and cannot screen share. Without these permissions in place, your Mac may show a spinning wheel in Teams. You can manually set up access by following these steps.
In the top-left corner of the Mac Desktop, click Apple menu then select System Preferences, The System Preferences window appears. Click the Security & Privacy icon. The Security & Privacy window opens. Click the Privacy tab. In the lower left of the window, click the padlock icon to make changes. Enter your Mac’s administrator username and password. In the left column, click the Accessibility section. If Microsoft Teams is not listed on the right side, click the plus sign and add Microsoft Teams. Then check the Microsoft Teams checkbox, Click the Camera section. Check the Microsoft Teams checkbox, Click the Microphone section. Check the Microsoft Teams checkbox, Click the Screen Recording section. Check the Microsoft Teams checkbox. Close the Security & Privacy window. Quit Microsoft Teams and reopen Teams to enact these changes.
For Basic accounts, screen sharing is set to Only Host by default. In a webinar, only the host, co-hosts, and panelists can share their screen. If you’re using the desktop client, you can show Zoom windows during screen share.
Configure guest access in the Teams admin center –
- Sign in to the Microsoft Teams admin center,
- Select Users > Guest access,
- Set Allow guest access in Teams to On,
- Under Calling, Meeting, and Messaging, select On or Off for each capability, depending on what you want to allow for guests.
- Make private calls – Turn this setting On to allow guests to make peer-to-peer calls.
- IP video – Turn this setting On to allow guests to use video in their calls and meetings.
- Screen sharing mode – This setting controls the availability of screen sharing for guests.
- Turn this setting to Disabled to remove the ability for guests to share their screens in Teams.
- Turn this setting to Single application to allow sharing of individual applications.
- Turn this setting to Entire screen to allow complete screen sharing.
- Meet Now – Turn this setting On to allow guests to use the Meet Now feature in Microsoft Teams.
- Edit sent messages – Turn this setting On to allow guests to edit messages they previously sent.
- Delete sent messages – Turn this setting On to allow guests to delete messages they previously sent.
- Delete chat – Turn this setting On to allow guests to delete an entire chat conversation.
- Chat – Turn this setting On to give guests the ability to use chat in Teams.
- Giphy in conversations – Turn this setting On to allow guests to use Giphys in conversations. Giphy is an online database and search engine that allows users to search for and share animated GIF files. Each Giphy is assigned a content rating.
- Giphy content rating – Select a rating from the drop-down list:
- Allow all content – Guests will be able to insert all Giphys in chats, regardless of the content rating.
- Moderate – Guests will be able to insert Giphys in chats, but will be moderately restricted from adult content.
- Strict – Guests can insert Giphys in chats, but will be restricted from inserting adult content.
- Memes in conversations – Turn this setting On to allow guests to use Memes in conversations.
- Stickers in conversations – Turn this setting On to allow guests to use stickers in conversations.
- Immersive reader for messages – Turn this setting On to allow guests to use immersive reader in Teams,
- Select Save,
Note If you’re an administrator, and you’re having trouble with Guest Access in Microsoft Teams, select Run Tests below, which will populate the Guest Access diagnostic in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. Share audio from a web browser –
- Select Share Tray > Screen, window, or tab to open the screensharing selection window.
- While sharing tab, select the Share Tab audio checkbox. This will share the audio coming from the tab.
- While sharing entire screen, select the Share system audio checkbox to share the audio coming from the entire computer.
- When you share tab audio, only the audio coming from the tab will be shared. Audio coming from the rest of the computer will not be shared.
- When you share system audio, all the audio coming from the entire computer will be shared.
To stop sharing the sound from your tab or computer, click stop screensharing,
If you have one screen – Your single screen needs to be used for sharing content and seeing the participant videos. The best approach is to share a window of content instead of the full screen. This allows you to still see the Teams app with the participant videos.
If you are sharing PowerPoint slides, use Reading View to show the Slide show in the PowerPoint window instead of the full screen ( this article explains how to see your notes and show the slides in Reading View ). If you are sharing other apps, make the window less than full screen so you have space for the Teams app on the screen.
In the Teams app, share the window of content in the meeting. When you share content in Teams, it minimizes the controls to the lower right corner of the screen. As shown above for two screens, click in the center of the minimized window, on the video or initials shown and the Teams app will be displayed full size again. To stop sharing the window, use the stop sharing button in the Teams control bar.
Why can’t i turn on screen sharing?
Clearing the cache on Android –
- Open Settings.
- Select Storage.
- Tap the Apps icon.
- Choose the app you want to clear.
- Once you select the app, you can choose Clear Cache.
After you clear cache and cookies from the settings on your device, open your screen share app and try again. If you find screen sharing not working again, then you could force restart your device. In theory, restarting your device will give you a blank slate to work with. Your device could run faster than before.
How do I know if screen sharing is on?

Screen Sharing in a Microsoft Teams Meeting One of the most used features in Microsoft Teams Meetings is Screen Sharing. Press Control + Shift + E to open the screen sharing dialogue. Press Spacebar if you want to share computer sound. Then Tab to Screen and press Enter to start screen sharing.

- Select Projecting to this PC under Start > Settings > System.
- Choose Optional features under Add the “Wireless Display”, optional feature to project to this PC.
- Enter “wireless display” after selecting View features next to Add an optional feature.From the results list, check the box next to Wireless Display, then click Next and Install.
- Select Back to manage your projection choices on the Projecting to this PC page in Settings once “Wireless Display” has been installed.
- Launch the Connect app on the PC you’re projecting to by typing “Connect app” into the taskbar search box and choosing Connect from the results list.
- Go to the screen mirroring settings of the device you’re projecting from, also known as the cast settings, and choose your PC to connect to it. You can also choose Windows logo key + K and the PC you want to connect to if you’re projecting from a PC.
