If you are based out of Bangalore, then the route you mentioned is fine. If you are from Mumbai, then reach Mangalore. The ideal route would be Mangalore – Madikeri – Mysore – Bangalore Day 1 Start to Thalakaveri from Madikeri by 7 or 8 AM so that you can be back to Madikeri before lunch. Visit Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple(Temple built in Kerala style architecture) at Bhagamandala (36 KM from Madikeri) which is on the way to Thalakaveri (44 KM from Madikeri) You can also visit the Triveni Sangamam (the holy confluence of the Rivers Sujyothi, Cauvery and Kannike) which is next to Sri Bhagandeshwara temple Next destination is Thalakaveri Temple (Goddess Caveriamma, Lord Agastheeshwara and Lord Vinayaka) Here inside the temple, you can find small square tank, the holy pond which is the the origin of River Cauvery.
