Which Country Is First In Education
Today, there are many sources that analyse and evaluate the performance of education systems around the world. And while higher education and universities are often under the brightest spotlight, with sources such as Times Higher Education´s World University Rankings and QS Top Universities bringing out related data each year, we are up to the challenge of expanding that focus.

In this article, we would like to present you with a ranking of the ten best education systems, worldwide, based on information provided by U.S. News & World Report. Through a combination of scores based on the level of development of a public education system, the people´s willingness to attend university and the opportunity to receive top-quality tuition, the team behind the list below managed to rank a set of countries from Australia, Europe and North America,

To make things more interesting, we have included a comparison of the latest 2020 results with the previous from 2019, with the sole aim of determining some differences while searching for explanations:

Top 10 Best Countries for Education
2020 2019
1. The United States The United Kingdom
2. The United Kingdom The United States
3. Canada Canada
4. Germany Germany
5. France France
6. Switzerland Australia
7. Australia Switzerland
8. Sweden Sweden
9. The Netherlands Japan
10. Denmark The Netherlands

according to data from U.S. News & World Report Right at the top, we can see that the US has passed the UK to claim the top position, highlighting a trend that we commented on in our recently updated article Best universities in Europe 2020. Affected by a difficult political situation, several higher education institutions from the United Kingdom suffered from a drop in their latest rankings this year.

  1. However, while we never mentioned anything about the United States in that text due to the European focus, here we can say that even more American universities saw their ranks going in the wrong direction for similar reasons, and in both cases following a reduced number of international students.
  2. Perhaps, the fact that the results from the table above are based on education systems as a whole has helped the USA with reaching pole position, while for number three, four and five no surprises seem to have come up.

Immediately after that, we witness an overtake from Switzerland followed by a rank-up by the Netherlands, Japan´s exit from the 2020 list and the arrival of Denmark. In the area of higher education, the strong presence of European destinations – with the total rising to seven countries this year, can be explained with the current opportunities offered by their public systems.

In Denmark, Germany and Sweden you can study a variety of programmes, including many in English, free of charge, given that you are coming from the EU, EEA or Switzerland, or any other third country at German state universities! There is often a student union fee applied, however, that can be best described to minor when opposed to tuition fee – usually coming with the benefit of accounting for different discounts.

Furthermore, higher education institutions in Europe take up excellent ranking positions, globally. A fact which is also confirmed by the two respected sources we mentioned in the introduction, Times Higher Education´s World University Rankings and QS Top Universities.

Notably, the former lists six of the seven European countries starring in this article in the elite group of the Top 60 of the world, with only Denmark missing out a place. Even more, each country is also represented by one or more public universities! And before you start thinking that Australia, Canada and the United States have not received the attention they deserve, here is some food for thought regarding, once again, their respective higher education systems.

From last to first, the US is home to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or MIT, which has now been holding the #1 spot for the eighth time in a row in the rankings of QS Top Universities. Despite the on-going difficult political situation, the United States of America has actually constantly remained a strong competitor within the global top.

  1. Recently, Canada, by contrast, had representatives advance a few positions according to THE´s World University Rankings, with a total of 30 listed universities, including the best performing University of Toronto ranked #18.
  2. Finally, Australia registered increasing levels of internationality as stated by QS, with five Australian higher education institutions holding excellent positions in the Top 50 for 2020.

As a conclusion, it would be interesting to see whether any changes take place in 2021 in the top ten countries with the best education systems in the world – mostly related to the expansion of competitors from Asia, mostly Mainland China, and also South America with Brazil.P.S.

Which country ranks highest in education?

The Top 10 Most-Educated Countries (OECD 2018) –

Canada — 56.27% Japan — 50.50% Israel — 49.90% South Korea — 46.86% United Kingdom — 45.96% United States — 45.67% Australia — 43.74% Finland — 43.60% Norway — 43.02% Luxembourg — 42.86%

The OECD list compares the percentage of each country’s residents ages 25 to 64 who have completed some form of tertiary education: a two-year or four-year degree or a vocational program. Based on the OECD’s data, Canada is the most educated country globally, with 56.71% of adults meeting the OECD criteria.

Japan has the second-highest percentage of 51.44%, followed by Israel with 50.92%. However, it’s worth noting that this list compared only the 43 countries that are members or partners of the OECD, leaving out roughly 150 countries that happen to not belong to the OCED. =Also of note is the fact that these rankings change if the data are divided by age range.

For example, compare the percentages for 55-64-year-olds in the tables below with the percentages for 25-34-year-olds. Comparisons such as these offer a glimpse into which countries are increasing support for education and which may be doing less.

Who is India’s best friend?

East – China A Chinese container ship unloads cargo at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port in India. Bilateral trade between the two countries has surpassed US$65 billion by 2015 making China the single largest trading partner of India. Despite lingering suspicions remaining from the 1962 Sino-Indian War, the 1967 Nathu La and Cho La incidents, and continuing boundary disputes over Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh, Sino-Indian relations have improved gradually since 1988. Both countries have sought to reduce tensions along the frontier, expand trade and cultural ties, and normalise relations.

A series of high-level visits between the two nations have helped improve relations. In December 1996, PRC President Jiang Zemin visited India during a tour of South Asia. While in New Delhi, he signed with the Indian Prime Minister a series of confidence-building measures for the disputed borders. Sino-Indian relations suffered a brief setback in May 1998 when the Indian Defence minister justified the country’s nuclear tests by citing potential threats from the PRC.

However, in June 1999, during the Kargil crisis, then-External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh visited Beijing and stated that India did not consider China a threat. By 2001, relations between India and the PRC were on the mend, and the two sides handled the move from Tibet to India of the 17th Karmapa in January 2000 with delicacy and tact.

In 2003, India formally recognised Tibet as a part of China, and China recognised Sikkim as a formal part of India in 2004. Since 2004, the economic rise of both China and India has also helped forge closer relations between the two. Sino-Indian trade reached US$65.47 billion in 2013–14, making China the single largest trading partner of India.

The increasing economic reliance between India and China has also bought the two nations closer politically, with both India and China eager to resolve their boundary dispute. They have also collaborated on several issues ranging from WTO ‘s Doha round in 2008 to regional free trade agreement,

Similar to Indo-US nuclear deal, India and China have also agreed to co-operate in the field of civilian nuclear energy, However, China’s economic interests have clashed with those of India. Both the countries are the largest Asian investors in Africa and have competed for control over its large natural resources.

There was a tensed situation due to both the soldiers’ stand-off in Doklam, Bhutan; but that too was resolved out early. The Current Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and President of China Xi Jinping, at G7 Summit, China (2016) Relations were lost due to Galwan valley skirmishes and its progress, India ceased on imports of Chinese products. Various measures were taken, such as several contracts with the Chinese companies involving in railways, networks and several items productions, were cancelled in response.

  • The outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic from Wuhan also hampered the relations.
  • Following the straining of the bonds, both the sides blamed each other on the conflict on LAC.
  • On 29–30 August, it was reported that China had allegedly attempted to cross LAC to attain important hill tops, which was failed by Indian troops, as they were in advantage of acquiring important tops near LAC.

India banned more than 250 Chinese apps, and on 16 October, it had banned the import of AC’s, Refrigerators and Coolers from China. Several core-commanders negotiations and talks were held, which resulted nothing other than vague promises then. Cross-media blaming was common.

  1. There was even a conference held in Moscow, Russia, on 5 September between the Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh and Chinese Army General, Wei Fenghe, but that also ended up with no success.
  2. The recent meeting of the Quad-alliance was also question by China, but was then downed by India.
  3. In mid-January 2021, it was reported that both the countries had finally agreed upon the de-escalation from their positions.

Several footages of Chinese troops removing tents/barracks were released. Both the countries also agreed that India would move back to Finger-3, while China retained its position back to Finger-8, and was also declared the area from Finger-3 to Finger-8 to be ” No man’s land “. Two Japanese Naval warships took part in Malabar 2007 off India’s western coast, one of the few such multilateral exercises Japan has ever taken part in symbolising close military co-operation between India and Japan. In October 2008, Japan signed an agreement with India under which it would grant the latter a low-interest loan worth US$4.5 billion to construct a high-speed rail line between Delhi and Mumbai.

  1. This is the single largest overseas project being financed by Japan and reflects growing economic partnership between the two.
  2. India and Japan signed a security co-operation agreement in which both will hold military exercises, police the Indian Ocean and conduct military-to-military exchanges on fighting terrorism, making India one of only three countries, the other two being the United States and Australia, with which Japan has such a security pact.

There are 25,000 Indians in Japan as of 2008. Mongolia The relations between India and Mongolia are still at a nascent stage and Indo-Mongolian co-operation is limited to diplomatic visits, provision of soft loans and financial aid and the collaborations in the IT sector.

India established diplomatic relations in December 1955. India was the first country outside the Soviet bloc to establish diplomatic relations with Mongolia. Since then, there have been treaties of mutual friendship and co-operation between the two countries in 1973, 1994, 2001 and 2004. North Korea India and North Korea have growing trade and diplomatic relations.

India had a fully functioning embassy in Pyongyang which was closed down due to COVID-19 pandemic in the host country while North Korea still operates an embassy in New Delhi, India has said that it wants the “reunification” of Korea. The cordial relationship between the two countries extends back to 48AD, when Queen Suro, or Princess Heo, travelled from the kingdom of Ayodhya to Korea.

According to the Samguk Yusa, the princess had a dream about a heavenly king who was awaiting heaven’s anointed ride. After Princess Heo had the dream, she asked her parents, the king and queen, for permission to set out and seek the man, which the king and queen urged with the belief that god orchestrated the whole fate.

Upon approval, she set out on a boat, carrying gold, silver, a tea plant, and a stone which calmed the waters. Archeologists discovered a stone with two fish kissing each other, a symbol of the Gaya kingdom that is unique to the Mishra royal family in Ayodhya, India.

  • This royal link provides further evidence that there was an active commercial engagements between India and Korea since the queen’s arrival to Korea.

The relations between the countries have been relatively limited, although much progress arose during the three decades. Since the formal establishment of the diplomatic ties between two countries in 1973, several trade agreements have been reached. Trade between the two nations has increased exponentially, exemplified by the $530 million during the fiscal year of 1992–1993, and the $10 billion during 2006–2007.

  1. During the 1997 Asian financial crisis, South Korean businesses sought to increase access to the global markets, and began trade investments with India.
  2. The last two presidential visits from South Korea to India were in 1996 and 2006, and the embassy works between the two countries are seen as needing improvements.

Recently, there have been acknowledgements in the Korean public and political spheres that expanding relations with India should be a major economical and political priority for South Korea. Much of the economic investments of South Korea have been drained into China; however, South Korea is currently the fifth largest source of investment in India.

To The Times of India, President Roh Moo-hyun voiced his opinion that co-operation between India’s software and Korea’s IT industries would bring very efficient and successful outcomes. The two countries agreed to shift their focus to the revision of the visa policies between the two countries, expansion of trade, and establishment of free trade agreement to encourage further investment between the two countries.

Korean companies such as LG, Hyundai and Samsung have established manufacturing and service facilities in India, and several Korean construction companies won grants for a portion of the many infrastructural building plans in India, such as the “National Highway Development Project”.

Which country is No 1 in world 2022?

Quality of life factors as most important for rankings. WASHINGTON, D.C., September 27, 2022— Switzerland returns to the top spot in the overall 2022 Best Countries, a ranking and analysis project by U.S. News & World Report; BAV Group, a unit of global marketing communications company WPP; and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Now in its seventh year, Best Countries evaluates 85 countries across 73 attributes. Attributes were grouped into 10 subrankings, including entrepreneurship, agility and social purpose. Quality of life became the most heavily weightedsubranking this year, as determined by the most recent gross domestic product per capita data.

“The Best Countries rankings are designed to help policymakers and residents identify how perceptions affect their country’s standing among other nations,” said Kim Castro, editor and chief content officer at U.S. News. “Having quality of life as the top subranking demonstrates that elements such as a good job market, affordability, political stability and well-developed health and education systems are playing an increasingly important role in shaping a country’s global image.” For the fifth time, Switzerland claimed the No.1 spot, with Germany coming in at No.2, followed by Canada at No.3.

  • Switzerland returns to No.1. The country, which held the top spot from 2017 to 2020, scored well on quality of life and social purpose attributes. It is also perceived as a country that cares about human rights, as well as gender and racial equity and the environment.
  • The Russia-Ukraine War influenced perceptions of those two countries and neighboring nations. Russia dropped to No.36 in the Best Countries overall rankings, while Ukraine moved up to No.62. Poland, Lithuania and Romania also moved up in the rankings.
  • The fear of rising inflation and economic decline is a top concern, Eighty-five percent of survey respondents believe inflation will worsen. Among survey participants, 58% agree with the statement, “I am willing to pay higher prices if it helps put more economic pressure on Russia.”
  • COVID-19 continues to factor into perceptions of health care. Seventy-nine percent of respondents agree with the statement, “I approve of my country’s efforts to protect its citizens from the COVID-19 pandemic,” while only 65% agree with the statement, “I trust my government to take care of my health and safety.”
  • There is a desire for global leadership – as well as female leadership. Eighty-nine percent agree with the statement, “We need leaders that think beyond their own borders or their own self-interests,” while 69% agree that “countries led by women tend to be better managed,” up 1.4 points from last year.

“This year we can truly see the growing significance of soft power over traditional forms of hard power when rating a country’s standing in the world,” said John Keaveney, advisor at BAV@WPP. “With the rise of importance in quality of life and social purpose in the Best Countries analysis and the declining prominence of military and economic might, we can see how much the general attitudes of the world are changing, and what nations need to consider.” The 2022 Best Countries rankings methodology is based on a proprietary survey of more than 17,000 global citizens from 36 countries, including business leaders, college-educated individuals who are middle-class or higher; and general citizens who are nationally representative of their country.

In general, countries do not shift to any great degree from year to year,” said David Reibstein, professor of marketing at the Wharton School. “But in 2021 and 2022, we witnessed more turmoil than in any of the previous seven years of this study, resulting in more change in how people viewed countries.

Perhaps the greatest shakeup influencing the rankings this year is the conflict in Ukraine, the insecurity within Europe itself, the threat of possible nuclear confrontation and the total disruption of energy supplies.” The Best Countries rankings are part of U.S.
