It is vital and a basic human right that everyone should have. However, that is not the case. Millions of people around the world do not have access to education and our mission and initiative aims to solve that.

1. The COWF Awaab Education Initiative at Children of War Foundation’s (“COWF”) aims to provide education for all disadvantaged children and refugees that have come to Jordan from many different countries such as Sudan, Yemen, Syria and many more.
2. At COWF, we believe that every child has the right to an education, regardless of their background, their gender, or their race.

Education is a privilege and something that is taken for granted by those who have it, and we at COWF want to help make it accessible to as many children as we can. Many children do not have an education due to financial restrictions as they are unable to afford it.

1. Moreover, they could have cultural restrictions as in many cultures, parents want their sons to have an education while their daughters remain at home.
2. There are also restrictions where children do not feel safe going to school due to their country’s situation if they are currently at war, or due to the inability to commute or travel to school for the lack of adequate infrastructure to support commuting from remote areas.

These are all restrictions that we are aiming to solve. By partnering up with Abwaab, the only accredited ed tech platform in Jordan, we are providing refugees and students from impoverished backgrounds quality education by giving them the tools necessary to achieve the same level of learning as they would going to school.

• Our students are tested for grade placement competency, and have been provided with tablets as well as a portable internet device so they could learn safely at home.
• We have partnered up with Abwaab because they are aligned with the Jordanian Ministry of Education, so the education that is received in public schools in Jordan will be offered to our students providing them with an accessible and quality education.

We are beginning to be able to do just that. Marwa, a Syrian refugee is at the top of her class and averages 20 hours a week on the platform via her tablet. She is enjoying studying so much that she wants to volunteer next year and help other students navigate the online platform and make the most of their remote education.

1. Marwa, along with all the children that we are helping, are finally feeling heard and are getting what they deserve, what every child deserves, a right to education.
2. By starting this initiative, we are helping marginalized children receive the education they deserve and by doing that, more children now have hope for a brighter future.

Our aim is to integrate refugee and displaced students into public school systems already in place without having to hire additional teachers or add more desks to classrooms.

• Public school systems in regions where there are high displaced populations are already constrained on resources, and we most certainly do not want to add insult to injury.
• The Covid19 pandemic has forced change, bringing down many of the barriers that prevented access to public education.
• Connectivity and expert e-learning programs have and will continue to replace traditional school participation, proving that education can be accessible from anywhere at any time.

In 2021, we have an opportunity to redirect millions of dollars of funding from the public and private sector to effectively educate aid dependent students, as well as innovate and better public school systems already in place. We will continue to democratize access to current public education systems without additional burdens by strengthening them with new investments to accelerate scale and accessibility.
