How education affect your life as a student?

Health Behaviors – Knowledge and skills: In addition to being prepared for better jobs, people with more education are more likely to learn about healthy behaviors. Educated patients may be more able to understand their health needs, follow instructions, advocate for themselves and their families, and communicate effectively with health providers.21 People with more education are more likely to learn about health and health risks, improving their literacy and comprehension of what can be complex issues critical to their wellbeing.

  • People who are more educated are more receptive to health education campaigns.
  • Education can also lead to more accurate health beliefs and knowledge, and thus to better lifestyle choices, but also to better skills and greater self-advocacy.
  • Education improves skills such as literacy, develops effective habits, and may improve cognitive ability.

The skills acquired through education can affect health indirectly (through better jobs and earnings) or directly (through ability to follow health care regimens and manage diseases), and they can affect the ability of patients to navigate the health system, such as knowing how to get reimbursed by a health plan.

  • Thus, more highly educated individuals may be more able to understand health care issues and follow treatment guidelines.21–23 The quality of doctor-patient communication is also poorer for patients of low socioeconomic status.
  • A review of the effects of health literacy on health found that people with lower health literacy are more likely to use emergency services and be hospitalized and are less likely to use preventive services such as mammography or take medications and interpret labels correctly.

Among the elderly, poor health literacy has been linked to poorer health status and higher death rates.24

Can education bring you a bright future?

Amel Najjar – Published Dec 22, 2020 Education is the key to a brighter future. It is a tool that makes us understand the world around us. It is vital and a basic human right that everyone should have. However, that is not the case. Millions of people around the world do not have access to education and our mission and initiative aims to solve that.

  1. The COWF Awaab Education Initiative at Children of War Foundation’s (“COWF”) aims to provide education for all disadvantaged children and refugees that have come to Jordan from many different countries such as Sudan, Yemen, Syria and many more.
  2. At COWF, we believe that every child has the right to an education, regardless of their background, their gender, or their race.

Education is a privilege and something that is taken for granted by those who have it, and we at COWF want to help make it accessible to as many children as we can. Many children do not have an education due to financial restrictions as they are unable to afford it.

  1. Moreover, they could have cultural restrictions as in many cultures, parents want their sons to have an education while their daughters remain at home.
  2. There are also restrictions where children do not feel safe going to school due to their country’s situation if they are currently at war, or due to the inability to commute or travel to school for the lack of adequate infrastructure to support commuting from remote areas.

These are all restrictions that we are aiming to solve. By partnering up with Abwaab, the only accredited ed tech platform in Jordan, we are providing refugees and students from impoverished backgrounds quality education by giving them the tools necessary to achieve the same level of learning as they would going to school.

  • Our students are tested for grade placement competency, and have been provided with tablets as well as a portable internet device so they could learn safely at home.
  • We have partnered up with Abwaab because they are aligned with the Jordanian Ministry of Education, so the education that is received in public schools in Jordan will be offered to our students providing them with an accessible and quality education.

We are beginning to be able to do just that. Marwa, a Syrian refugee is at the top of her class and averages 20 hours a week on the platform via her tablet. She is enjoying studying so much that she wants to volunteer next year and help other students navigate the online platform and make the most of their remote education.

  1. Marwa, along with all the children that we are helping, are finally feeling heard and are getting what they deserve, what every child deserves, a right to education.
  2. By starting this initiative, we are helping marginalized children receive the education they deserve and by doing that, more children now have hope for a brighter future.

-Tala Obeid, COWF intern Marwa- COWF beneficiary, Syrian refugee residing in Jordan Support is needed to scale our programming within Jordan and beyond. Our aim is to integrate refugee and displaced students into public school systems already in place without having to hire additional teachers or add more desks to classrooms.

  • Public school systems in regions where there are high displaced populations are already constrained on resources, and we most certainly do not want to add insult to injury.
  • The Covid19 pandemic has forced change, bringing down many of the barriers that prevented access to public education.
  • Connectivity and expert e-learning programs have and will continue to replace traditional school participation, proving that education can be accessible from anywhere at any time.

In 2021, we have an opportunity to redirect millions of dollars of funding from the public and private sector to effectively educate aid dependent students, as well as innovate and better public school systems already in place. We will continue to democratize access to current public education systems without additional burdens by strengthening them with new investments to accelerate scale and accessibility.

Does education determine your future?

Six reasons why school doesn’t determine your future success Sponsored content for Buyer’s Agent Institute. Go to school, get an education, get good grades, and look for a job that will give you a stable income, pay off your debts, and save money.’ This is the advice that most of us are given by parents and guardians.

This was good advice a few decades ago but the world has evolved. Nowadays, not all careers require the traditional aspect of schooling, and not everyone who performs well at school succeeds. Here are a few reasons why school doesn’t determine your future success.1. Multi-focus teaching style Schools offer an array of subjects, with many that are mandatory.

If you look back, many of those subjects are not relevant in real life. This is because schools don’t train you for specific careers. Take, for example, the career as a buyer’s agent, Building a career as a buyer’s agent is not something that is taught at school.

  1. Yet it’s a way to financial freedom and wealth.
  2. Such careers require specialised training.
  3. Online tools and resources can equip those who want to pursue such careers.
  4. You save time through specialised learning and start building a career for yourself right away.2.
  5. Uniformity The uniform structure in schools gives a false sense of the outside world.

The world outside school classrooms is diverse and challenging. One must think out-of-the-box and continuously adapt to the dynamic environment. You may pass your mathematics examinations by applying the rules that you’re taught. However, career opportunities and situations can be packaged in ways that need creative thinking and adaptability.

All these practical aspects are not taught in classrooms at school.3. Limited employment opportunities It requires hard work and dedication to reach educational milestones and get degrees and diplomas. However, the job market is not so friendly and such qualifications don’t always matter. Building a career may be a long and uncertain journey.

It can take hundreds of applications just to land an internship. Technical training for a specific career path, however, increases your chances of being well-equipped for future opportunities. Once you realise that your school qualifications are not enough for your desired career path, you begin to shift gears.

This is why you find people settling for jobs that they had never thought they would work in. They take up jobs just to put food on the table. The dreams of becoming successful get distant and tangled in the web of survival. Six reasons why school doesn’t determine your future success 4. Outdated relevance Unfortunately, your school papers don’t evolve with the world.

How does your education path impact your future? Patrick Denice – Department of Sociology

What you may have learned in school ten years ago, may not be relevant in the current state of affairs. Skills, requirements, and demands are constantly changing and evolving. You have to be in a position where you can move with the expectations through constant learning and training.

Traditional school qualifications don’t necessarily give you the platform to do so. Tailor-packaged career building platforms make sure to keep you updated and relevant as the world continues to move forward. The skills learned on such platforms are relevant in the real world and can help you embark on your quest for success.5.

Examination driven You may have been good at studying for examinations and passing with flying colors. Some students boast of their memorising and cramming abilities. Successful careers are, however, built through resilience, hard work, and dedication.

Of course, straight ‘As’ can be a reflection of these traits but sometimes grades don’t matter. When you get into the thick of things in the brutal game of career building, those with resilience and the ability to train are the ones who succeed in the long run.6. Text-book focus Certain careers are relationship-oriented.

The success in those careers solely depends on your ability to form and grow relationships. A career as a buyer’s agent is a case in point. Relationship-building skills are not taught in a school textbook. This is the reason why many renowned successful people dropped out of school.

  • Some of these leaders have brands built on their personalities, charisma, charm, and wit.
  • You’ll not find schooling as a part of their resume.
  • Therefore, you can surely succeed without depending too much on what you’re taught at school.
  • Conclusion In conclusion you can see that school doesn’t necessarily determine future success.

School offers opportunities for some but not all benefit from what’s taught and learned there. School is not a guarantee for career success. Uniformity, outdated skills, and grade-based assessments don’t help in career growth. However, training for a specific career path with channels for skill enhancement may help you succeed in the long run.
