Why do people want to go to Rice University?

Why I Chose Rice University | My College Decision Process Watch Video If you have family members in Texas, it makes it convenient to visit when you feel homesick or if you feel that you want to see family. Rice has a small student population, making it easy to create close bonds. What Is Unique About Rice University Welcome back to my channel. You can tell from my background that I am back home. I’m not in Taiwan anymore. I came back home 3 days ago. I think I still have jet lag so I actually woke up today at 5 p.m., around 3 hours ago. That’s why it’s pitch black outside.

  • For today’s video, I wanted to briefly talk about why I decided to choose Rice for my college and some of my personal insights on my college decision process.
  • One of the reasons why I decided to go to Rice is the location.
  • Rice is in Houston, Texas so the weather is definitely not it’s best suit.
  • It’s hot, humid, sticky and the weather is wild.

However, the weather is not really a deciding factor for me for school since I know I can get used to it. I like Houston as a location because it feels like a multicultural hub and it has a lot of fortune 500 companies nearby. I like how it’s very diverse so it’s a great place to meet different kinds of people from different backgrounds. My second point is Houston or Texas in general is a place that I can envision myself living and working in the future. Whenever I visit Texas, I just feel so wholesome and healthy, very happy and warm. If I had a chance to work or live there, I would take it.

That helped me decide between Rice and Vanderbilt, because those were my top two choices at that time. I love Vanderbilt as a school and as a community. However, my mom and I knew that I would be happier living in Houston versus Nashville. Both are amazing cities but I just have a connection to Texas. The third reason why I chose Rice is because I like how small it is.

Rice has about 4,000 undergrads versus 30,000 at UCLA and 7,000 at Vanderbilt. This is definitely a personal opinion because I know a lot of people love big class sizes. For me, I love how small schools give you an opportunity for closer companionship and connections with professors and with your student body in general. What Is Unique About Rice University The fourth reason why I chose rice is the community. I know I can’t really say much about it because I haven’t been a student there yet, but based on what I’ve seen by looking at their Facebook page, the group chats, and by talking one on one with other students, I believe it’s a good community.

I’m very excited and everybody whom I’ve talked to is also very excited and happy to go to Rice. I was able to see how current students interact with each other and what their classes look like. I liked how collaborative the environment was, how happy everybody was, how eager everybody was to help one another.

I think that’s really important to find in a student body. That’s it for this video. I hope you guys liked it. If you did, please be sure to give this a big thumbs up and comment below anything you want. Also subscribe, if you haven’t already for more vlogs and college-related videos like this.
